Whimsical Workplace: A New Standard in Corporate Interior Design

Square Feet Design Group Inc Transforms Office Space into a Living, Breathing Manifestation of Corporate Philosophy

GoodLife Fitness, the largest fitness chain in Canada, has redefined the concept of a workplace with its new corporate office. Designed by Square Feet Design Group Inc, the office is a physical embodiment of the company's mission and values. The design, which won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, is a testament to the power of design in shaping corporate culture and employee experience.

The inspiration for the design came from GoodLife Fitness's corporate goal of making Canada the healthiest nation in the world. The office space is designed to promote health and wellness, with amenities that encourage employees to stay active and fit. The design also fosters collaboration and relaxation, reinforcing the company's belief in a balanced lifestyle.

The uniqueness of the design lies in its successful transplantation of the company's remarkable corporate culture into a modern 63,000 sq. ft. space. The design process was collaborative and meticulous, resulting in an environment that promotes innovation and energy. The office features a 220 square foot living wall, a work of art that purifies the air and reduces carbon emissions. The use of grass turf, ceramic tile, wood, vinyl plank flooring, and carpet tiles enhances the natural theme of the building.

Advanced technology was incorporated into the design, including LED lighting throughout the building and electric car charging stations. The office space is 4,460 square meters, with an additional 1,390 square meters dedicated to a fitness club for employees and the public.

The design was realized with the end users in mind. Amenities include private lockers, showers, a lunch room with multiple refrigerators and microwaves, free coffee, vending machines, televisions, and even a basketball hoop. The design team, which included Lori Ireland, Kyla Young, Adrienne Fisher, and Jeff VanHaeren, worked diligently to ensure that the space would appeal to all tastes.

The project, which was in the planning stages from February 2015 to August 2016, required extensive research to evaluate the spatial needs of the occupants. The design team worked closely with workplace furniture suppliers to ensure that the overall needs were fulfilled. Despite the fast-paced construction schedule and the challenge of creating a design that would appeal to a diverse group of employees, the team was able to create a space that is truly unique and reflective of the company's values and mission.

In conclusion, the Whimsical Workplace by Square Feet Design Group Inc is a shining example of how design can be used to create a work environment that not only meets functional needs but also embodies the spirit and philosophy of a company. It is a testament to the power of design in shaping corporate culture and enhancing employee experience.
